Mission

The mission of KAMO is to facilitate improvements for Kentucky physician specialties in any kind of practice of hematology, oncology, or both. Specific improvements include:

  • Improve hematological and oncological services to the public by studying the socioeconomic aspects of the practice of hematology and/or oncology. By so doing, the Society shall help safeguard the rights of patients with hematological and oncological diseases and help in defining the qualifications of physicians practicing hematology and/or oncology physician specialties and their auxiliary professions;
  • Provide educational events for hematologists, oncologists and their staff in order to maintain and promote high medical and ethical standards in the practice of hematology and oncology.
  • Promote scientific inquiry and exchanges between Kentucky's hematologists and oncologists and the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the American Society of Hematologists, and other national societies of physicians dedicated to hematology and/or oncology specialties.
  • Serve as the advocate and liaison to governmental, regulatory and insurance interests on behalf of Kentucky's hematologists and oncologists.
